How do I play videos from YouTube in Adobe Connect Meeting Rooms

YouTube Player for Connect Pod from eSyncTraining
If you are looking to have a dynamic session and move around YouTube in real-time, there is an excellent pod from eSyncTraining.  You can search YouTube for phrases and create a playlist to show in the room.  There is a free version and a paid option with many more features.  You can download the YouTube Player for Connect pod here.

Downloading and converting videos

You should be able to convert a downloaded video to an FLV or MP4 using the notes in my text on ‘Converting Video for use in an Adobe Connect Meeting Room

Another option is to use the Firefox browser and install a ‘Download’ Add-in.  This will allow Firefox to automatically download the video from YouTube and convert it to FLV or MP4 for you, I have used a few of these very successfully.  Just disable them when you don’t need them.  Some examples below (please note that we do not test or guarantee 3rd party software so ensure you protect your computer and infrastructure):
