Which trial should I choose?

The Adobe Trial instructions are not terribly helpful.  Here are the basic guidelines that will give you the right trial and give you the best chance to convert your trial to a full account int he future if you choose that path (note that it is not always possible or practical to convert a trial to a full account if an incompatible trial is chosen.

Here are the options, limitations and comments related to the choices that you will see under the ‘CHOOSE A TRIAL’ menu.

Note – The functionality of rooms in Connect does not change with the different trials, the functionality is available across all trials.  The only exception is the ability to track transcript results from live Adobe Presenter or Adobe Captivate quizzes to the Connect Training LMS  in the ‘Adobe Connect Learning’ Trial.  This is a very specific use-case and it is highly unlikely that you want to do this.

‘Adobe Connect Meeting’ – This is the simplest and most flexible trial.  This will give you access to the regular meeting room functionality but this will not give you access to the ‘Connect Events’ registration functionality.

If you just want to build classrooms, meeting rooms, test simple webinars then this is the most flexible and simplest trial.

Conversion to a full account – The ‘Adobe Connect Meeting’ trial can be converted to an ‘Adobe Connect Webinar’ or an ‘Adobe Connect Learning’ full account in the future and any rooms that have already been created can be ‘cloned’ into the seminar/webinar or ‘learning’ areas.

‘Adobe Connect Webinar’ – This will give you access to a seminar/webinar license.  The functionality of the rooms is identical to that of the ‘Adobe Connect Meeting’ trial above.  This does however, give you access to the ‘Connect Events’ registration functionality so if you want to test the registration pages and automated email reminders etc…this is the trial to choose.

Conversion to a full account – The ‘Adobe Connect Webinar’ trial can be converted to a full seminar/webinar license in the future in many cases and rooms and registration information retained.  This can be converted to an ‘Adobe Connect Meetings’ account in the future but seminar/webinar rooms will be lost.  Any room templates created in the trial will be retained so these can be cloned into new meeting rooms.

‘Adobe Connect Learning’ – This is relatively easy.  There is almost no reason you would ever choose this option for a trial.  This trial has very little to do with whether you are actually carrying out ‘learning’ or ‘eLearning’.  It relates to the ability in Connect to track Adobe Presenter or Adobe Captivate content to the Connect Training LMS.

If these authoring tools and phrases mean nothing to you and if you want the most flexibility in the future then choose the ‘Adobe Connect Meetings’ trial.

If you also want to trial the Connect Events ‘registration’ functionality then choose the ‘Adobe Connect Webinar’ trial.

Conversion to a full account – The ‘Adobe Connect Learning’ trial cannot be converted to an  ‘Adobe Connect Webinar’ or an  ‘Adobe Connect Meetings’ account as the classrooms build in the trial cannot be easily moved or retreated/cloned.  Any ‘Connect Events’ registration information can be retained if the account moves to a  ‘Adobe Connect Webinar’ full account in the future.
